Quick bike prep ?
«
on:

I'll be at Beaverun on the 3rd of September for my first track day. I recently installed 3m film from a paint protection kit onto my headlights. I plan on pulling the fuses regardless but will I still have to tape them even if the 3m film is on there?
Not sure why it's forcing me to add a poll so just ignore it.

congrats on taking the leap for your first track - and welcome to your new addiction!
Don't sweat the headlights. European Motorcycles of Pittsburgh runs a great and fun track day several times a year. They always bring extra tape if you need it. The tape you have on the headlights might suffice - but if it doesn't, there will be extra tape at the track to keep you covered. (the tape will also need to cover all reflectors / turn signals / mirrors / and tail light). Personally - I like to remove the mirrors and front turn signals.
I think there are a couple of old forum posts for "track day prep", with some good pointers. Use the search button at the top to check it out.
Hope that helps - looking forward to the track day!

I found what I was thinking of... it's in the "Info" section (from the menu at the left).
(or click here)
The info section lists:
1) Track Day Check List
2) Tire Pressure List (might not have the newest tires on the list)
3) Tech Inspection Guide.
Hope that helps

Welcome to the forum. EuroMC runs a great track day - you're going to have a blast!
The tape serves two purposes:
1) To prevent the glass or plastic from shattering if something "bad" were to happen
2) To prevent light from reflecting and distracting other riders.
Your 3M film probably wouldn't do much for #2, but like Tom said, EuroMC might let it go. I'd bring some of that blue "painters" tape along just in case. It shouldn't harm your 3M film when you pull it off.
See ya on the 3rd!

okay, lenses are taped, mirrors and signals are off and i'm switching out the coolant with wetter/water today.
other questions i have are:
do i have to remove my side stand? i didn't see that mentioned in paul's list he posted but i want to double check on that.
my wife is coming with me so i imagine there's a gate charge for both of us. i know it says lunch is provided so does that include guests too or just riders who are signed up?

Hey Eric,
No need to remove your side stand, thats the beauty of doing trackdays, you can actually get off your bike and relax.
Also, there should be no gate fee for the shops trackdays. Some trackday orgs don't cover the gate fee, but I'm pretty confident that Lee does for each of our days.
Look forward to seeing you and the 848 out there! We should be having some great weather for the 3rd!
