I did Summit Point about 2 years ago.  It was a lot of fun.  The front straight feels like it's 4 miles long - and you will get to hit the top speed on your bike (which is typically 156 on most middle-weight bikes that are stock).  Going 156 is an awesome feeling on a bike!

If you are in the beginner class, you will get held up in the turns, especially turn 3... which the traffic continues thru 4 and 5.

Make sure you study the track map and watch some videos before you go - it's a lot more fun if you know the track before you get there.

I've only ridden ONE lap at summit main, so can't comment on how much fun it is.  But, I did hear that it was repaved last year and many racers were not happy with it.

Supposedly, it's bumpier in turn 1 and there's sealer all over the place.  I'd have to do some research because SP may have taken care of all these problems by now.

All that I know about the Jefferson course is that it's small and very tight (good for smaller bikes).  I've heard that Shenandoah is fun, but has several concrete walls and some clubs won't ride there (NESBA) because of safety concerns.  Again, I have no personal experience - this is just what I heard.

If you're talking about MAIN, and the track is close to you, and bumps and sealer don't bother you, I'd definitely give it a shot.

Thanks for the input. I'm going on Tues. the 21, I'll let you know how it was.  Probably ride intermediate or advanced hopefully not to much traffic.

Yes - please let us know how it is.
Also - I didn't realize how much time flies... we were there 3 years ago!  I still remember the smoke cloud from Ian's bike like it was yesterday  Shocked

I read some reports over on the wera board about Summit.  I didn't see any complaints about the surface, so they must have fixed many of the problems.

I remember when we went years ago, everyone was complaining about the concrete patches (which they removed).  It seems like Summit changes from month-to-month.

I'd like to hear what people think of the track now.  The layout there always looked fun and I was seriously pissed when my bike broke there last time.

sorry for the late response.   The track was interesting the front straight was looooong.  They fixed the track numerous times, the last with asphalt in places but they used alot of sealer, needless to say  no grip tried different tire pressures but couldn't get it dialed in.  Other patches were concrete, a little bumpy, but had grip.  All in all it was a good day (better than work).  First time on the track this year, did good to knock off the rust.

Thanks for the report.  Doesn't sound like the track is in very good shape... and what's up with the concrete?  I thought they got rid of all that?!  Anyway, glad it was fun.  Any day at the track is better than work.

checked out the pix - looks like you guys got drenched in the afternoon!
(you practically needed head lights to see!)

I'll be at the Beave on the 31st - those guys from European Motorcycles always host a great track day.
