Tire reviews

Well, the Daytona started out with Pirelli Diablos (not the Corsa). I was able to do the equivalent of about 4.5 track days on these tires. (I think I did about 500 to 550 track miles... and another 700 street miles). I was extremely happy with the Diablos. Never once did I feel the tires slip on me (besides the time I got too greedy with the throttle in turn 10).
Unfortunately, the tires ran out of life mid-day thru our last track day - and I was forced to either get the Dunlop 208 GPs for $283, or skip out on the remainder of the track day. I went with the obvious, and purchased the tires.
I've only done a 1/2 track day on the Dunlops - but so far, I don't feel as comfortable on them as the Pirellis. I felt that the rear tire was sliding on me thru a couple of the high speed turns. I think I even felt a slide thru turn 12 - which I never felt before. Of course, I could have just been a little paranoid - since the Pirellis were toast earlier in the day, and I was sliding more than desired... and maybe the times I did slide a bit were because I passed someone, and was leaned over a bit more than usual in 12... either way - I'm a lot more comfortable with the Pirellis - so far.
I'll leave another review after the next track day on the Dunlops.

Damn Dunlops washed out on me today. Tried to stop fast before the tires warmed up, and the front tire slid out. Separated my shoulder, but should be back to normal in 3 weeks. My advice: stick with Pirelli!!!

That really sucks Tom. Glad you weren't too badly injured.
Here's my advice: Stick with track days!

Actually - it turns out that a lot of other people told me that they also slid on newly re-paved roads. So, the skidding was due to the new asphault - not the dunlops. Although, I must admit that I do feel a lot more comfortable with the Pirellis.

OK - I made it thru 1/2 a track day with the Dunlops, so I have more comments on them. Of course, I did do some street miles on the Dunlops - but I also did with the Pirellis. My official review of the Dunlops are that they are CRAP! I wouldn't take another set of Dunlops even if they were free! Pirellis are definately the way to go. I got 4 1/2 track days out of the Pirellis, and even street miles. As for the Dunlops - I didn't even get 1 track day out of them!

Just got Power Race tires on my F2, but it doesnt look like I'll get to try them out this year. I've heard really good things about them though.

Where did you get them from?
How does the price compare to this place?
http://s12987.50belowcommerce.com/productdetail.htm?productId=24498&searchProducts=power%20race
I saw that the Power Race are dual compound - looks good.
I was thinking about trying these tires out next (pilot power 2ct):
http://www.superbike.co.uk/products/tyres/SuperBike_on_the_launch_of_the_new_Michelin_Pilot_Power_2CT_news_80529.html
They are about $22 more (per set) than the Pilot Powers (which from what I've heard is still an awesome tire).
Although - I might decide to save the cash and simply go with the Pilot Powers - especially since the link above (Lithium Motorsports) sells the Pilot Powers very cheap (and doesn't sell the 2CT - yet).
Since I like to ride on the street, race tires are out of the question - unless I stumble across a spare set of rims.
