This was my first time on the track. I am 47 years old riding 2003 BMW 1150RT. Where has this experience been for the first 47 years of my life. This is freaking unhinged FUN!!! It's the next day and I'm still in awe of track riding. I am looking for some feed back from other riders as to how to improve my riding. Good or bad I would like to hear from others at the track this day

Hey Mike, welcome to your new addiction.  You were looking really good out there. I was riding the red Duc 916 in the Beg/Int group.

You were definitely fast... and looked really comfortable.  Considering it was raining most of the day, I'd say you were riding extremely well.

My first suggestion would be to practice following the correct race lines.  This usually means slowing down a little bit and follow a control rider (or more experienced rider) for a few sessions.  Get familiar with the track and pay attention to turn and brake markers.  Remember, your first goal is to be smooooth!  Don't try to pass too many people, or push yourself too hard.  The smoother your are, the easier it is to go fast.

Thanks for the feedback Ian. I will be back in Sept at the next European Motorcycles track day. I am looking forward to making my ride a smoother one. I'm still on a high from track day.

I can't believe how fast you are on that bike!
(for those of you that don't know, I think the 1150RT is weighing in at about 570 pounds!)
My legs are still sore from hanging off so much (to try to minimize the slides in the rain).
The weather wasn't too bad considering the forecast!  (Ian's prediction was right!)
Can't wait 'till the next track day!
