SuMo dirt practice at the Beave was unbelievable!  There were no sessions (and no karts)... just ride when you want!  The weather was great, and so was the riding.
The dirt section was a ton of fun - but I have a lot to learn.  I spun out in the dirt may 9 times (which is a lot), and this wears you out.  So, by the end of the day, a lot of riders were skipping the dirt section a lot... but we still hit it every couple of laps.
I started getting the hang of the whoops by trippling the first 3 and doubling the next 2.  And, I started feeling a lot more comfortable over the big jumps.  Despite being the slowest rider thru the dirt, I still love it, and can't wait 'till the next one!
I was also able to back it in on a couple of turns - which is a lot of fun, but not the fastest way around the track... but hey, practice is all about experimenting and having fun... and we had a ton of fun!
Hope to see more of you out there for the next practice!

man, wish i could've made it.  hopefully i'll make it out there next time, the bike should finally be ready.  don't worry about how fast or how slow you were, i'm sure you gave it hell like you always do, thats what matters.

backing the bike into the corners is sorta like dragging knee on the road course, it will comes with the speed.  if you're working hard at doing it or forcing it to happen, you're usually slowing yourself down more than you are making faster lap times.  work on being smooth, going faster out of corners, which usually means faster corner speeds to come out faster, and find a braking point thats later than a usual 'roadrace' entry point, and the sliding should come a little more naturally.  slipper clutches are a nice way to cheat on it too Smiley

you'll find your comfort zone in the dirt the more you get out there and ride in it.  it usually means making mistake after mistake, learning each time what the bike demands, and you'll soon be in your own zone.  having a nice smooth 4stroke on the motard makes it much easier too, just don't chop the throttle in the whoops or you'll be on your ass without knowing what just happened.  Yes, I speak by experience.

I brought the video camera with me, but since I struggled so much thru the dirt, I never hooked it up.  I'd love to get some on board video going over jumps, but I need a couple more practices - otherwise, I'm sure I'd destroy the camera in a crash Shocked
TheSBImage.com was taking pix of SBT on the North track, and I think they snapped a couple SuMo pix - but I haven't found any on Ray's site.
Next practice we plan on hitting is Thur. 06/12/08 - hope to see you there - no more excuses! knuppel2

Paul's excuse is that he buys 'tards just to take apart - not to ride Wink
