Since just about all of us have discussed or mentioned the possibility of this at least once, I figured I'd start an official "unofficial" thread to decide who would want to try to get into doing a few endurance races through the years here.

I really do think getting into a few regional endurance races would be really fun and cool to do.  Kinda like a doing a trackday but with having the possibility of standing on a podium at the end of the day.  The consistency of the riders and the team strategy are the challenges, more than just being the fastest guy in a sprint race.  I say lets get a bike together, and try it.

I'm not going to get too into detail as far as the ideas that are brewing in my mind, but let the brainstorming and ideas begin to snowball here...

I completely agree - I'll do some research to find out what it will take to make this happen.

Looks like we'll need about $250/rider to get ready, and about $350/rider/race... based on a 2005 budget: (click here)

And - some people mentioned that CCS might be a little cheaper (and easier) than WERA (click here for CCS FAQ)  (note: Team ProMotion is a certified race school).  Race Cert is $100 (+track fees)... Race License is $115... license expires Dec 31st of each year, (or - get a 1-weekend license for $40).

(note from Scott): you can also sign up for a WERA regional series race weekend.  If you look at the schedule, any weekend that has "rs" listed will have a rider school.  It costs $60.  The same day of the rider school, you pay your $100 and get your WERA membership and provisional license.

Although - the schedule (for tracks closest to PA) appears that CCS does endurance at Carolina and VIR... whereas WERA does endurance at Nelson Ledges (8 hour) and Summit Point (6 hour).  Personally - Carolina and VIR seem like a lot more fun and challenging - but without any experience on those tracks - we'll get crushed!

(more info from Scott:)
Moto-ST is another option - if we want to race a twin (click here for Moto-ST)

And, Nelson has a mini endurance series with a group called FastTrax: (click here for FastTrax)

Sounds like fun, but I didnt expect it to be that much per race.  I guess with fuel, tires, and entry fees it does add up.

I bet we can get a team together to do at least 2 races next year.  Not sure how well we will do, but i'm sure we will have fun.
