I really think soon that trackdayriders.com is really going to take off, and I keep seeing more and more registered users, but no one new seems to make any posts.  I thought maybe since this is the first topic in the "welcome" forum, that we can all introduce ourselves here.  For the forum to thrive, we need some fresh blood, and to keep the momentum forward.

If you don't know me from working the parts counter at European Motorcycles of Pittsburgh , I'm Paul and currently ride anything that I can get my hands on.  I don't really have a dedicated trackbike, or streetbike at that matter, but I am usually on at Daytona 600 that we have as a "shop track bike".  However, I am getting more and more into supermotard, and just picked up a '04 KTM MXC 450 with a full motard conversion.  Of course, like most of the others here, I'm from the pittburgh area and most of our tracktime is spent at Beaverun.  Other tracks I've been to are Mid Ohio, Summit Point, and putnam park.

Hope to see some more faces (screen names?) here

                   -Paul

I'll agree with Paul - all the newbies need to speak up.  If riding on the track is your thing, then I think this is  a great place to talk about it.

I'm Ian and can usually be found in the paddocks fixing my aging Ducati 916.  I also live in the Pittsburgh area, so Beaverun is where I spend most of my track days.  I'm the designer of Trackdayriders.com, so you can blame me for anything that doesn't work.

Let's hear from some of you.

Newbie here - my name is Bill and I'm in Atlanta (FYI - MC2WHL is the tag on my bike) new to the forum new-ish to sport bikes having ridden an RM80 as a kid and then just some occasionally spirited joy rides and commuting.

I am really interested in getting into some  track days and this site/org seems to be a great resource, not only for track days, but some great people too.

I've got a 919 that I've been tinkering with (a bad habit that I've been very lucky hasn't gotten me into to any danger yet...) I'm one of those "dive in and figure it out" types, and so far swapped the full exhaust, K&N, rear sets and some appearance stuff - but now that I've gotten comfortable clearing my chicken strips and even dragging a peg once or twice, I'm slowly looking to get up to a track day and looking forward to possibly making some acquaintances here...

Welcome Bill!  What year is your 919?

One thing I can say about track days... they're addictive!  Your wallet has been warned.  After a few days on the track, you may consider doing what a few of us have done and give up street riding completely.

If you have questions, feel free to ask... that's why we're all here.

Welcome Bill!

Ah - the first track day... once of the most memorable days of your life!

Check out the [tracks] section of this site to find a track near you, and some videos.  (The videos aren't only neat to watch - but a great tool to learn the track before you get there).

Hi Bill!

it's good to know that we got another person that's going to get hooked on trackdays.  Your 919 will sure be a great bike out on the track, and before you know it you'll have a race fairing, clip-ons, DOT tires, and will be yanking off all of the lights and street gear!  J/K

If you have any Q's about anything, feel free to ask!

Howdy Folks!

My name is Bill and I'm a trackaholic.

Been riding since 1970, but didn't do my first track day until 2002.

I have one bike currently, a well worn '99 Duc 900SS.

Hello everyone.  My name is Sonny and I moved up to Mo Town in late 06. My local track was VIR until i moved up here. I got to take in 2 of the local tracks last year (Summit and BeavRun).  I meet the guys at European Motorcycle of Pitt last year and got to two of the track days they did last year.  They run a great day at BeavRun an they are good guys.  I will be signing up for the April weekend so if anyone comes by pits and sees a "well used" giixer #304 stop by and say hi.  Goooooo fast...have fun!   Smiley
